Chen Wu wins the 2022 Xplorer Prize

The Xplorer Prize Award Ceremony for 2022 was held online on November 26, 2022. Chen Wu, Leading Scientist at CPL, was awarded the 2022 Xplorer Prize for Medical Sciences. In recognition of her research contributions in cancer genetics and genomics, The Xplorer Prize will support Prof. Wu’s future studies in dynamic evolution of cancer development and prospective cohorts for early cancer screening in Chinese population. It is the first time to add medical sciences as the supporting categories of The Xplorer prize.

 

The Xplorer Prize is a public welfare award launched by Tencent Foundation and instructed by renowned scientists. At present, it is one of the highest funding programs for young talents of science and technology in China. Honoring up to 50 awardees each year, The Xplorer Prize aims at supporting young scientists in ten categories from fundamental science to cutting-edge technologies.

Wu is a Leading Scientist at CPL and Professor of Cancer Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College (CAMS & PUMC). She received her M.D. and Ph.D. specialized in Oncology at PUMC, followed by postdoctoral experiences at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She was one of the World Economic Forum Young Global Leaders (2020 class), Qiu Shi Outstanding Young Scholar Award, and Chinese Young Women in Science Award.
